Podcast Discussing the Mental and Physical Aspects of Success.
Interview with Epiphany Hightower Yesterday
I recently receive this invite from TV Producer and podcaster Conversations with Epiphany Hightower. During in June in recognition of Men’s Mental Health Month and the NBA Playoffs. I think your perspective as “The Foul Shot Doc” would make for such an important and timely conversation, especially around the mental side of sports. I’d love to discuss topics like mental endurance during the playoffs, confidence under pressure, emotional wellness for athletes, and the growing conversation surrounding men’s mental health in sports culture today. With the intensity and emotions surrounding this playoff season, I believe this conversation would really resonate with viewers and offer a deeper look into the human side of the game.
We had this interview, yesterday.
Here are some of the questions asked:
You’re known as “The Foul Shot Doc.” How did you become interested in the mental side of basketball performance?
What makes the mental aspect of basketball just as important as the physical side?
During the NBA playoffs, what kind of mental pressure are players dealing with that fans may not fully understand?
We always hear the phrase “mental toughness.” What does that actually mean to you?
How do athletes mentally recover after a bad shooting night or costly mistake in a big game?
What separates players who thrive under pressure from those who struggle with it?
Since it’s Men’s Mental Health Month, why do you think conversations around emotional wellness for men — especially athletes — are becoming more important?
Do you think sports culture has historically discouraged men from openly talking about stress, anxiety, or mental health struggles?
How important is vulnerability in sports today?
What advice would you give young men who feel pressure to always appear “strong”?
Today’s athletes face nonstop criticism online. How has social media changed the mental side of sports?
Can confidence be trained the same way athletes train physically?
Watching these playoff games, have there been moments where you could visibly see the mental side of basketball affecting a team or player? What do championship teams usually have mentally that other teams may lack?
If viewers take one thing away from this conversation about sports and mental health, what would you want it to be?
LATER THIS WEEK, WE WILL HAVE THE LINK T HEAR PODCAST.
